3G vs. 4G: What You Should Know Before You Switch

4G is short for "4th Generation wireless". 4G is said to be "lightning fast" and have "Blazing speed", but hte 4G we currently have is considered not true 4G, just advanced 3G. Experts say that true 4G would be 10 times faster that 3G. "4G" is supposedly faster and offers you the ability to download songs, watch videos and browse the web faster than ever. Experts suggest that with such fast wireless access, it will cause mass consumption of the service resulting in bigger wireless bills.

Approximations.
3G= 3 mbps
4G=100mbps

4G is only available in certain places, such as big cities. Verizon's 4G network is only available in 39 cities as of 8/19/11 but is constantly building on that number.

3G and 4G are just different generations of the wireless network. 4G is just supposed to be faster Verison, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint all  claim that they have 4G but Sprint is the only true carrier of 4G.
