Anonymous Group

Anonymous is a distributed network of individuals who are focused on promoting access to information, free speech, and clarity. No leader, no charge. All participants are on an equal-footing with the same decision- making power. Anonymous does not have a leader or controlling group, they operate as a 'loose collective' who share similar ideas. The name of the group refers to the fact that internet users can talk and act anonymously online.

The group has taken credit for numerous attacks, including Bank of America, Sony, and the Malaysian government. One of the difficulties authorities have had tracking down hacking attacks is that they can be launched from anywhere and can come from an individual who can mask his location. The group of hackers claimed to have breached NATO security and accessed hoards of restricted material.
