The differences between 3G and 4G networks

By: Ben Joan
3G networks are third generation networks that use a combination of circuit and packet switching. Packet switching being that information is only available when it is being sent across the network. Circuit switching means that the information is always there making the connection even slower. 3G networks have a speed of 14 Mbps downlink and a 5.8Mbps uplink. 4G networks use only packet switching and as such is a much faster network. 100 Mbps for a moving person and 1Gbps for a person who is standing still is the speed for a 4G network.

Essentially most companies that claim to have a 4G network do indeed have some form of it, the main differnce is in the advertising. For example Verizon will claim to have a faster network than AT&T or even that AT&T does not have a 4G netwrok at all. The same for most other companies. So as far as I can tell no companies do not have 4G netwok because I am not going to beleive false advertising and slander for any of these companies.
