Sony Ericsson have combined a phone with a PlayStation-styled keypad, thus creating a gaming phone. This new gaming phone is known as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. It has a slide-out pad. Now this slide-out is no normal keyboard, instead it was replaced by the PlayStation-style game pad with the four familar buttons (triangle, square, circle and X). The Xperia comes with six games pre-installed. Three of those games include Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee and The Sims 3. Additional games can be purchased on Verizon's V Cast service or the Android Market. The prices of most games ranges from $3 to $5, although some games can be as much as $12. The Xperia Play is a 3G phone and runs Android's 2.3 operating system. It includes Flash animation, a 4-inch touchscreen and 1GHz Snapdragon II processor. the phone/gaming system has a 5-megapixel camera on the back that includes an LED flashlight. On the front there is a VGA camera for video chats. The phone starts at $200 with a new two-year contract with Verizon Wireless. Who would have thought that one day you could call, text, e-mail, listen to music, take pictures, video chat, and play PlayStation games all on the same device?!?
