The way the shoe would work would be through Reverse Electrowetting, A process where moving liquid is converted into energy. Researchers believe the energy could be converted through walking. It could conduct up so 20 watts of electricity. That's enough to light up a compact fluorescent light bulb and hundreds of times morepower than motion-powered piezo-electric systems can harvest.
This technology is not available quite yet, but Krupenkin and Taylor are working to change that.
"You cut the power requirements of your cell phone dramatically by doing this," said Kripenkin. "Your cell phone battery will last 10 times longer"
This technology definately has the potential to be a big winner for consumers...and the enviroment.
