Why Facebook Bought Instagram

Instagram, a highly growing application that allows users to share photos, was bought by Facebook for a whopping $1 billion. There are many theories to why Zuckerberg decided to buy out this non-profit organization. The main theory of why Facebook did this was to attract the many people already on Instagram and buy them out before another competitor such as Google or Twitter took action. This app once served as a threat to the Facebook app on mobile devices. Thirty million people use Instagram on iOS devices, and more than a million on Android devices. The companies' great increase in popularity was just something that one of the most widely used websites on the Internet (Facebook) could not pass up.
