By Ned Potter

If you have heard in recent news that NASA's UARS satellite will carsh into the Earth says that people in North America can rest. NASA says that the satellite will re-enter Earth's atmosphere on Sept. 23 in the afternoon in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Chile and will be passing over North America at that time. NASA says that the risk of debris hitting a person or property is very slim. This is the biggest satellite to fall back to Earth uncontrollably since the Skylab in 1979. The UARS, which stands for Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, is 35 feet long and weighs 6 tons. NASA says that most of the satellite will burn up while falling back to Earth. But also 26 parts of the satellite are dense anough to survive the fall back to Earth.
