There are 11,000 library sites to check out Amazon Kindle books. You can do this as long as you have a valid library card and a Amazon account. You do this by checking a library's inventory and downloading copies to your Kindle or Kindle app. Like a library, Kindles do have due dates. If you are not finished you can either renew the book or you can buy the book off of Amazon.
