Imagine you are reading an intense, gripping novel. You are completely immersed. Suddenly music swells. You hear the click click of footsteps and you are comletely knocked out of the book and back to reality.

This is BookTrack, which brings movie syle soundtracks to the book. They are available for the iphone and ipad. The software tracks you as you read and plays the sounds at appropiate places in the book. So you may hear the heartbeat of a panic woman or the runing footsteps of a robber.

If you think this is distracting, you are probably right. the first thing you need to do is shut off the progress indicator, or you will fell like you need to be hurried to read at a steady pace.

Adding tawdry effects dont help enhance the experience of a good book. The beauty of a good book should be your imagination, not some weird sound effects coming from a book . It makes the book seem fake. Its like watching a good movie then a bad visual effect can pull you right out of a movie, but the book is worse. But I should worn you, there are more coming so be prepared!
